Drawing pet portraits without looking began by accident. One day I sat on the sidewalk offering them to the public simply because I wanted to make myself laugh, and before I knew it, a line of customers had formed. I never imagined it would become my life's work. What began as a funny little experiment unexpectedly grew into something much bigger after someone shared a video of me on TikTok. Since then, I've had the privilege of collaborating with incredible brands, drawing at corporate events and private parties, and meeting thousands of people from all over the world. But you'll still find me on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice Beach when I’m not traveling for events. It’s where NOLOOK began, and where it still feels most alive. I love that someone can walk by with no expectations, stop out of curiosity, and leave thirty seconds later with a memory they'll keep for years.

At the beginning, I thought the magic of NOLOOK was the drawings themselves. Sometimes they're wonderfully Picasso-esque. Sometimes they're surprisingly accurate. You never really know what you're going to get, and I think that's part of the fun. But after drawing thousands of pets, I've realized that's not the real magic at all. The magic is what happens while I'm drawing. When people talk about their pets, something changes. Their guard comes down. They stop trying to impress anyone and simply tell the truth. Complete strangers share stories that are funny, heartbreaking, joyful, and deeply personal. In those few moments, there's nothing but trust, love, and connection. I get to experience that over and over again—literally every thirty seconds—and I honestly believe those conversations have become the greatest work of my life.

People sometimes ask about my background because the drawings look so loose and spontaneous. The truth is, I've spent my entire life making art. My parents encouraged me to create from the time I was a little kid, and that gift shaped my life. As an adult, I taught art in Los Angeles for more than fifteen years, studied fine art in college, and have worked in painting, drawing, sculpture, and just about anything else I could get my hands on. I love all of it, and those years shaped the artist I am today. But nothing has connected me to people the way NOLOOK has. It reminds me every day that perfection isn't always what people remember—it's how you made them feel. I never expected this strange little idea to become my career, and I certainly never expected it to introduce me to so many remarkable people. For that, I will always be grateful.
